Expect another day of oppressive heat and humidity today with
high temperatures in the middle 90s and afternoon heat indices
between 100 and 105 degrees.
A few thunderstorms may drift into portions of the area this
evening and overnight, mainly north of a Dixon to Woodstock line.
The strongest storms will be capable of frequent lightning, gusty
outflow winds, and heavy rainfall.

The magnitude of anticipated heat, combined with oppressive warmth at night will lead to hazardous conditions, particularly for the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions. Residents of the city of Chicago can call 3 1 1 to request well being checks for elderly friends or family members, or for information on finding the nearest cooling center. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside.
