A Heat Advisory continues through tonight. Heat index values across central Indiana will range from the 100s this afternoon...to the mid-70s late tonight. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. Heat indices are expected to peak in the 100s while low temperatures remain in the mid to upper 70s through at least Friday. The Heat Advisory remains in effect through Friday evening as little heat relief at night will be impactful to sensitive populations. Daily chances for thunderstorms return for part or all of the region Tuesday afternoon. Any storms should be focused during afternoon to early evening hours. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
