Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast
Missouri.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Heat indices will reach around 100 degrees this afternoon.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Heat indices in the 100 to 110 degree range are expected
Wednesday.

Scattered thunderstorms are forecast Wednesday afternoon through
Thursday night. A few strong to potentially severe storms with
damaging winds are possible late Wednesday afternoon into
Wednesday evening in southwest Indiana and portions of southern
Illinois and southeast Missouri. Otherwise, lightning and locally
heavy rainfall will be the primary storm hazards.

PM EDT/ WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Heat index values of 103 to 108 expected.

* WHERE...All of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, western
  Kentucky, and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From 11 AM CDT /noon EDT/ to 8 PM CDT /9 PM EDT/ Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Isolated to scattered thunderstorms are
  possible during the afternoon in the northern half of the Quad
  State, which could bring earlier relief from the heat.
