.KEY MESSAGES...

- Dangerous heat and humidity combo is forecast today and
  Tuesday, with heat indices of 105-110 degrees. A Heat Advisory
  is in effect areawide from 1PM to 9PM today, and continues in
  portions of eastern Kansas and west-central and central
  Missouri through 7 PM Tuesday.

- A frontal boundary will bring a 30-50% chance of thunderstorms
  to far north-central and northeast Missouri early Tuesday
  morning, with the potential for some storms to be severe.

- Additional chances for widespread thunderstorms return to the
  forecast Thursday into Friday, along with cooler temperatures
  and lower humidity levels.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected.

* WHERE...In Kansas, Linn KS and Miami Counties. In Missouri, Cooper,
  Howard, Pettis, Bates, Cass, Henry, and Johnson MO Counties.

* WHEN...From 1 PM this afternoon to 7 PM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.
