This hazardous weather outlook is for portions of Central Kansas,
South Central Kansas and Southeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Tonight

A few additional storms are possible this afternoon, especially
across central and south central Kansas. The strongest storms may
produce wind gusts up to 60 mph and heavy rainfall.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

Small storm chances, mainly at night, exist over the next week.
Widespread severe weather is not expected.

Heat indices will climb above 100 degrees Saturday through
Thursday across much of the area. An Extreme Heat Warning is in
effect from 2 PM Saturday until 7 PM Wednesday and may need to be
extended in future updates.

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM SATURDAY TO 7 PM
CDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 105
  expected.

* WHERE...Portions of Central, South Central, and Southeast Kansas.

* WHEN...From 2 PM Saturday to 7 PM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.

To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and
Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in
shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
