This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of the Missouri Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight. Weather hazards expected... Limited lightning risk. Elevated extreme heat risk. DISCUSSION... The heatwave continues this afternoon with the afternoon heat index values of 100 to 110 degrees. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect areawide. A few showers and perhaps a thunderstorm or two are expected south of I-44 during the mid to late afternoon...with better chances closer to the Arkansas border. Most locations will remain dry however with little relief from the heat. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday. A weak frontal boundary moving northeast to the southwest Monday will result in somewhat lower heat indices...though southeast Kansas into southwest Missouri will once again see triple digit indices. This will likely lead to the extension of the existing Extreme Heat Warning into Monday. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms are once again expected. Any relief from this frontal boundary will be short lived with widespread heat indices of 100-105 noted Tuesday into Wednesday before another boundary brings the potential for thunderstorms and not quite as hot temperatures for the later part of the week into next weekend. .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
