Heat index values around 100 to 110 degrees will persist across the area again this afternoon and early evening. The Extreme Heat Warning continues through today. Shower and thunderstorm chances (20 to 50 percent) will occur across portions of the area this afternoon and evening. Damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph will be possible in the strongest storms. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. Temperatures will begin to warm up on Tuesday, with highs in the 90s to low 100s. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. Take extra precautions when outside.
