No severe weather is expected. Isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon, mainly along Interstate 70. The strongest storms may produce wind gusts up to 60 mph and brief heavy rainfall. Heat indices up to 110 degrees are expected this afternoon. Refer to the Extreme Heat Warning for additional details. Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible across portions of central and south-central Kansas tonight. No severe weather is expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday Small storm chances exist over the next week mainly in the overnight hours. Widespread severe weather is not expected. Heat indices will climb up to 110 degrees through at least Wednesday across much of the area. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
