Very warm and humid conditions will continue overnight. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. The heat wave will continue through the end of the week with highs in the 90s and heat index values around 100 degrees. Overnight temperatures remaining very warm in the mid 70s. * WHERE...Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington Counties. * WHEN...Until 9 PM CDT Thursday. * IMPACTS...Heat-related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. Prolonged heat waves lead to cumulative heat stress for those who cannot adequately cool down and recover each night. Cumulative heat stress significantly increases the risk of heat exhaustion and heat stroke as time goes on. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
