...FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Illinois, including the following areas, Bond
  IL, Brown IL, Calhoun IL, Clinton IL, Fayette IL, Greene IL, Jersey
  IL, Macoupin IL, Madison IL, Marion IL, Monroe IL, Montgomery IL,
  Pike IL, Saint Clair IL and Washington IL and Missouri, including
  the following areas, Franklin MO, Gasconade MO, Jefferson MO,
  Lincoln MO, Montgomery MO, Pike MO, Saint Charles MO, Saint Louis
  City MO, Saint Louis MO and Warren MO.

* WHEN...Through Tuesday morning.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Additional showers and thunderstorms with locally heavy rainfall
    will be possible, which could lead to flash flooding, especially
    if they occur over saturated soils.

* WHAT...Heat index values up to 108 expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southwest Illinois and central, east central,
  and southeast Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon to 10 PM CDT Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and
pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any
circumstances. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time
outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early
morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion
and heat stroke. Wear lightweight and loose fitting clothing when
possible. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety
and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks
in shaded or air conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat
should be moved to a cool and shaded location. Heat stroke is an
emergency! Call 9 1 1.
