This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southern
Illinois, southwest Indiana, western Kentucky, and southeast
Missouri.

.DAY ONE...Tonight

Isolated thunderstorms will gradually diminish across southeast
Missouri and west Kentucky this evening.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday

Heat index values will climb into the triple digits throughout
the region Wednesday afternoon. The worst conditions are expected
over southeast Missouri, where heat index readings over 105
degrees will be possible.

A chance of thunderstorms is forecast Wednesday, with more
numerous thunderstorms expected Wednesday night into Friday, as a
cold front lingers over the region. A few strong to severe storms
with mainly a damaging wind threat will be possible Wednesday and
Thursday, but the main concern through the period will be heavy
rainfall. With multiple rounds of storms expected, the threat for
at least isolated flooding problems will increase Thursday and
Friday.

The cold front is expected to push south of the area Friday, but
small chances of mainly afternoon thunderstorms remain in the
forecast Saturday through Monday. Locally heavy rainfall and
lightning will be the primary concerns.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation will not be needed overnight.

...HOT AND HUMID CONDITIONS EXPECTED AGAIN WEDNESDAY...

High temperatures in the lower 90s are forecast on Wednesday.
Factor in the extreme humidity, and it will feel like it is 100
degrees or greater. The worst conditions are expected over
southeast Missouri and the Purchase area of western Kentucky.

There is potential for scattered showers and thunderstorms to
develop on Wednesday. If showers and storms develop, the clouds
may help keep high temperatures down a couple of degrees or more.
If we do not see much cloud development, a heat advisory might be
issued for part or all of the area.

The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity will create
a situation in which heat illnesses are possible. Drink plenty of
fluids, take frequent breaks in the shade or air-conditioning,
and wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible.

Try to reschedule strenuous activities to the early morning or
evening. Check up on relatives and neighbors. Make sure outdoor
pets have an adequate supply of fresh water.
