This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of the Missouri
Ozarks and extreme southeast Kansas.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight.

Weather hazards expected...

  Marginal thunderstorm wind damage risk.
  Elevated lightning risk.
  Elevated excessive heat risk.
  Limited excessive rainfall risk

DISCUSSION...

Scattered showers and thunderstorms with heavy rain are expected
today, mainly across the eastern Ozarks this afternoon and
tonight. The stronger storms will be capable of wind gusts up to
60 mph and intense rainfall rates. The heavy rain may lead to a
localized flooding risk.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Temperatures gradually increase into the low to mid 90s through
the weekend, with maximum heat index values up to 100 to 105
degrees. By the middle of next week, high temperatures in the mid
to upper 90s are possible, along with maximum heat index values up
to around 100-110 degrees. An Extreme Heat Warning is in effect
from 12 PM Saturday until 7 PM Wednesday.

...EXTREME HEAT WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON SATURDAY TO 7 PM CDT
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values up to 106
  expected.

* WHERE...Portions of southeast Kansas and central, east central,
  south central, southwest, and west central Missouri.

* WHEN...From noon Saturday to 7 PM CDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during
  extreme heat and high humidity events.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles. Car
interiors will reach lethal temperatures in a matter of minutes.
