   Heat Advisory.
   Flood Watch.

There is a slight risk (level 2 out 5) risk for severe weather
today. The primary risk is damaging wind gusts. Additionally, storms
could produce locally heavy rainfall and flash flooding later this
afternoon and evening.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday.

Additional storms capable of heavy rainfall and isolated flash
flooding are possible Saturday.

* WHAT...Heat index values of 105 to 109.

* WHERE...Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates,
  Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans, and Western
  Currituck Counties.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat
  illnesses.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of
the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Take extra precautions when outside. Wear lightweight and loose
fitting clothing. Try to limit strenuous activities to early morning
or evening. Take action when you see symptoms of heat exhaustion and
heat stroke.

THROUGH LATE TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of northeast North Carolina, including the
  following areas, Bertie, Camden, Chowan, Eastern Currituck, Gates,
  Hertford, Northampton, Pasquotank, Perquimans and Western
  Currituck and southeast Virginia, including the following areas,
  Chesapeake, Gloucester, Hampton/Poquoson, Isle of Wight, James
  City, Newport News, Norfolk/Portsmouth, Southampton, Suffolk,
  Virginia Beach and York.

* WHEN...From 4 PM EDT this afternoon through late tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Showers and thunderstorms are likely this afternoon and
    evening. Localized rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches are
    possible in a few spots, along with rainfall rates up to 3
    inches per hour. These rainfall rates and amounts could
    produce flash flooding, with impacts exacerbated in areas
    that have received significant rainfall in the past week.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood
Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared
