...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
MONDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation possible. Confidence is
  increasing in widespread snow, sleet, and freezing rain. This may
  result in moderate to major impacts in infrastructure and
  transportation.

* WHERE...The Piedmont and portions of the central and northern
  Coastal Plain.

* WHEN...From Saturday afternoon through Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
  likely become slick and hazardous. Significant ice accumulation on
  power lines and tree limbs may cause widespread and long-lasting
  power outages.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider preparing and taking
a winter storm kit along with you, including anything that would
help you survive in case you become stranded.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central North Carolina.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Hazardous weather is not expected at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

A significant winter storm is possible this weekend. The exact timing
and amounts of ice or snow remain uncertain, but confidence is
increasing that most if not all of central North Carolina will see
accumulating wintry weather this weekend.

In addition, dangerously cold temperatures are expected this weekend
through early next week.
