This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for central North Carolina.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Hazardous weather is not expected at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Sunday through Friday.

Arctic air will move into the area Sunday into early next week. The
coldest temperatures are expected Sunday night and Monday morning
with wind chill values in the teens to single digits. These values
will pose elevated cold-exposure risks for anyone outdoors without
adequate protection. Dress in layers, and ensure pets and vulnerable
family and neighbors are warm and safe.

Additionally, gusty northwest winds Sunday night will range from 30
to 35 mph, with infrequent gusts of 40 to 45 mph. These gusts will
easily blow around unsecured holiday objects.

* WHAT...Very cold wind chills 3 to 10 above expected.

* WHERE...All of central North Carolina.

* WHEN...From 6 PM Sunday to 9 AM EST Monday.

* IMPACTS...Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with
  prolonged exposure.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use caution outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
Be sure that children wear proper clothing to protect themselves
from the cold.

Keep pets indoors as much as possible. Make sure outdoor animals
have a warm, dry shelter, food, and unfrozen water.

Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
