This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the central and northern
mountains of western North Carolina, the North Carolina foothills,
the North Carolina Piedmont north and west of the Charlotte metro
area, and the Greenville County Mountains in Upstate South Carolina.

.DAY ONE...This afternoon and tonight.

Hazardous weather is not expected at this time.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

Precipitation will develop from the southwest Thursday night and
increase in coverage and intensity through daybreak Friday. It will
be cold enough for some of this precipitation to fall as wintry
weather, primarily freezing rain, across the foothills, northern
Piedmont, and portions of the mountains of western North Carolina,
as well as the high elevations of South Carolina. Light ice
accumulations will be possible early Friday before the precipitation
transitions to rain throughout the day. Ice accumulations up to one
tenth of an inch will be possible in some locations just east of the
Blue Ridge escarpment. Winter Weather Advisories may be issued early
Thursday for Thursday night and Friday.


Spotters will be needed to report ice accumulations early Friday.
