..PATCHY BLACK ICE ACROSS THE NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS
OVERNIGHT...

An extremely cold arctic air mass will persist across the
North Carolina mountains overnight. With the recent rainfall and
snow melt, along with quickly freezing temperatures earlier
today, isolated areas of black ice will persist through mid
morning Monday. Untreated roads will be slippery in some
locations. Caution is advised for anyone planning to travel
overnight across the mountains of North Carolina.

...VERY WINDY CONDITIONS CONTINUE ACROSS MUCH OF THE WESTERN
CAROLINAS...

.Gusty mountain winds will persist into tonight. Damaging gusts
are expected to impact locations along and near the Blue Ridge
escarpment and the northern North Carolina mountains.

...HIGH WIND WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST MONDAY...

* LOCATIONS...The North Carolina Blue Ridge mountain area, from
  Henderson County and extreme western Polk County northward to
  Avery and western Caldwell Counties.

* HAZARDS...Strong to damaging winds.

* TIMING...Winds will remain strong and gusty across the warning
  area this evening, especially along and just east of the Blue
  Ridge. Winds will diminish slowly through daybreak.

* WINDS...Northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

* IMPACTS...Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power
  lines. Scattered power outages are expected.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.

  Mountains, Buncombe and Northern Jackson Counties.

* WHEN...Until 10 AM EST Monday.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The cold wind chills could result in
  hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that cold air and the wind will
combine to create low wind chills. Frostbite and hypothermia can
occur if precautions are not taken. Make sure you wear a hat and
gloves.
