This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for eastern North Carolina.

   Beach Hazards Statement.

Heat indices of 100-105 degrees are expected today.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday.

A cold front will bring a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms
Thursday afternoon and evening.

Heat indices up to 105 degrees are expected Thursday, and 105 to 110
degrees early next week.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT THROUGH WEDNESDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents.

* WHERE...Shackleford Banks and Bogue Banks beaches.

* WHEN...Through Wednesday evening.

* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away
  from shore into deeper water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The most likely time for strong rip
  currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide,
  which will occur around 7:30 AM Wednesday.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Life-threatening rip currents. If caught in a rip current, remain
calm. Swim in a direction following the shoreline. If tired,
float or tread water until out of the rip current. If unable to
escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
