PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Do not drive cars through areas where water covers the road.  The
water depth may be too great to allow your vehicle to pass safely.
Turn around...don`t drown!

  The Platte River Near Leshara.
* At  8:15 PM Monday the stage was 7.6 feet...or 0.4 feet below flood
  stage.
* Flood stage is 8.0 feet.
* Impact...at 7.5 feet...The river is at bankfull and water will begin
  to overtop the natural river banks.
* While the river stage may be just below flood level, there is likely
  still widespread lowland flooding occuring.

  flood stage.
* Flood stage is 14.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
  early tomorrow.
* Impact...at 14.0 feet...Along this stretch of the river low-lying
  flooding is ongoing or close to starting.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of southwest
Iowa...west central Iowa...east central Nebraska...northeast
Nebraska and southeast Nebraska.

.DAY ONE...Tonight and Tuesday

Widespread flooding along rivers and streams will continue
through tonight across most of eastern Nebraska and southwest
Iowa. The main rivers that are flooding include the Missouri
River, the Platte River, Elkhorn River, the Big Blue River and the
lower Nishnabotna River.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday night through Monday

Moderate to major flooding will continue this week in much of
eastern Nebraska and southwest Iowa. Flooding along the Missouri
River is expected all week.

There is a chance for rain and snow mix Monday night. Up to a
half inch of liquid from rain and melted snow is possible, with
areas south of Interstate 80 seeing the brunt of accumulation.

Another storm system entering the region late in the week could
bring another quarter to three quarters of an inch of rain from
Friday night through Sunday.

Spotter activation will not be needed, but please report flooding
to the National Weather Service.

* Until 1100 AM CDT Tuesday.

* At 1054 AM CDT, flooding continues in many areas along and near
  streams that are receding. Many county roads still have water on
  them due the recent flood event and it will take a while for that
  water to drain out. Locations with feeder streams that go into the
  Missouri River, the Platte River, the Elkhorn River, the Big Blue
  River and the Nishnabotna River are the most likely to see water
  problems outside of the larger river flooding. This is an
  extension and expansion of a previous areal flood warning.

* Some locations that could experience flooding include...
  Omaha, Lincoln, Norfolk, Beatrice, Falls City, Council Bluffs,
  Bellevue, Fremont, Papillion, La Vista, Blair, Nebraska City,
  Seward, Crete, Plattsmouth, Ralston, Wayne, Glenwood, Gretna and
  Auburn.

* Stay out of flooded areas. Turn around, don`t drown when
  encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.

* At 10:15 AM Monday the stage was 34.1 feet...or 5.1 feet above
  flood stage.
* Flood stage is 29.0 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and Moderate flooding is forecast.
* Forecast...The river will continue to slowly fall to below flood
  stage by Saturday morning.
* Impact...at 32.0 feet...Interstate 680 West between the Mormon
  bridge and Interstate 29 begins to flood.  Also, Interstate 29
  between Crescent and Council Bluffs begins to flood.
