Hazardous Weather Outlook National Weather Service Hastings NE 237 AM CDT Mon Apr 13 2026 KSZ005>007-017>019-NEZ039>041-046>049-060>064-072>077-082>087- 140745- Phillips-Smith-Jewell-Rooks-Osborne-Mitchell-Valley-Greeley-Nance- Sherman-Howard-Merrick-Polk-Dawson-Buffalo-Hall-Hamilton-York- Gosper-Phelps-Kearney-Adams-Clay-Fillmore-Furnas-Harlan-Franklin- Webster-Nuckolls-Thayer- 237 AM CDT Mon Apr 13 2026 This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for south central Nebraska and portions of north central Kansas. .DAY ONE...Today and Tonight. Due to the likelihood for at least marginally-critical fire weather conditions, our entire forecast area is under a Red Flag Warning from Noon until 9 PM. Please refer to the Warning statement for more details. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday. - Fire Weather Concerns: On Tuesday afternoon into early evening, at least near-critical fire weather conditions are expected across much of our forecast area, due to the combination of winds gusting at least 20 MPH, and relative humidity falling to at least 25 percent. However, our north central Kansas counties carry the greatest concern for potentially having outright-critical conditions, given that the overall-strongest winds and lowest relative humidity are forecast to occur there. As a result, a Fire Weather Watch has been issued from Noon until 9 PM Tuesday for our Kansas forecast area. Please refer to the Watch statement for more details. Between Wednesday and Sunday, at least near-critical fire weather conditions are forecast to develop each afternoon within at least portions of our forecast area. A few of these days could also feature outright-critical conditions, with Thursday currently of overall-greatest concern for the most widespread coverage of potential critical conditions. - Thunderstorm chances: Our next thunderstorm chances arrive to at least portions of our forecast area late Tuesday afternoon into Wednesday morning. Although severe storms currently appear overall-unlikely, a few stronger storms capable of producing small hail and/or gusty winds appear possible. Additional thunderstorm chances then arrive to primarily southeastern portions of our forecast area Friday afternoon and evening. It is still too soon to determine whether a threat for severe thunderstorms might exist within our area, or instead concentrate slightly off to our south and east. && More information may be obtained at the following web page: https://www.weather.gov/hastings $$ Pfannkuch
