...FLASH FLOOD WATCH NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL NOON EDT TODAY...

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* Portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and
  southeast New York, including the following areas, in southern
  Connecticut, Northern Fairfield, Northern New Haven, Southern
  Fairfield, and Southern New Haven. In northeast New Jersey,
  Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern Union,
  Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex, Western Passaic, and
  Western Union. In southeast New York, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn),
  New York (Manhattan), Northern Nassau, Northern Queens,
  Northern Westchester, Orange, Putnam, Richmond (Staten
  Island), Rockland, Southern Nassau, Southern Queens, and
  Southern Westchester.

* Until noon EDT today

* As much as 1 to 3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts,
  fell across the watch area Monday afternoon and evening.
  Scattered heavy rain showers and isolated thunderstorms will
  continue to move across the area this morning, with an
  additional 1/2 to 1 inch of rain possible.

* Additional heavy rain moving over already saturated grounds, may
  produce localized flash flooding. This will be especially true
  in areas of poor drainage, low-lying areas, and in urban areas.


PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
