...LAKE EFFECT SNOW WARNING IN EFFECT FROM NOON TODAY TO 8 AM EDT
WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy lake effect snow expected. Total snow accumulations
  between 5 and 10 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph.

* WHERE...Northern Oneida and Southern Oneida Counties.

* WHEN...From noon today to 8 AM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions
  could impact the Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow will develop this afternoon
  and persist into the overnight hours. The heaviest snowfall
  amounts are current expected to fall across central portions of
  Oneida County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.

During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally

...A BAND OF HEAVY SNOW WILL AFFECT PARTS OF ONONDAGA...SOUTHERN
ONEIDA...MADISON...AND NORTHERN ONEIDA COUNTIES...

HAZARDS...A band of heavy snow accompanied by wind gusts of up to 35
MPH which can rapidly reduce visibility to less than a quarter of a
mile.

LOCATION AND MOVEMENT...At 429 AM EDT, a band of heavy snow was along
a line extending from 7 miles southeast of Redfield to near Sullivan
to Tully and moving east at 35 MPH.

LOCATIONS IMPACTED INCLUDE...
Utica, Rome, Sullivan, Oneida, Kirkland, Lenox, Lee, Verona,
Westmoreland, and Vienna.

SAFETY INFO...
Use extra caution if you must travel into or through this band of
heavy snow. Rapid changes in visibility and potentially slick roads
may lead to accidents.

Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be
prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra
time to reach your destination.
