AREA...Northeast Oklahoma into far northwest Arkansas.

AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas.
ONSET...Ongoing.

DISCUSSION...
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop later this
afternoon across portions of northeast Oklahoma, generally near
and north of Interstate 44. Some storms could produce strong
downburst winds and locally heavy rainfall.
A heat advisory also remains in effect for portions of eastern
Oklahoma and west central Arkansas through this evening. Heat
index values in excess of 105 degrees will be possible through the
afternoon. Remember the heat safety guidelines with any outdoor
activities.

FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
A prolonged period of hot and humid conditions is forecast
for this weekend through at least the middle of next week.
Afternoon heat index values of 100 to 110 degrees will be
common across all eastern Oklahoma and much of northwest
Arkansas. The numerous days of hot and humid conditions along
with warm overnight low temperatures will raise the heat
stress risk across the region.
