DANGEROUS HEAT. RISK...Significant. AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and West Central Arkansas. ONSET...Ongoing. AREA AT GREATEST RISK...Northeast Oklahoma and Arkansas River Valley. DISCUSSION... Dangerously hot conditions will persist through this afternoon across eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas. Heat index values between 100 and 110 degrees are expected, with the higher indices across northeast Oklahoma into the Arkansas River valley of west central Arkansas. Continue to take proper heat precautions while outdoors today. A Heat Advisory remains in effect until 8 PM this evening for eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... A prolonged period of hot, humid, and dry weather will continue through the week ahead as a dome of high pressure holds over the southern Plains. Afternoon heat index values of 100 to 110 degrees will be common across all eastern Oklahoma and much of northwest Arkansas. The numerous days of hot and humid conditions, along with warm overnight low temperatures, will increase the risk of heat stress across the region. Daily heat headlines are likely through the week.
