DANGEROUS HEAT. RISK...Significant. AREA...Eastern Oklahoma and West Central Arkansas. ONSET...Early Afternoon. SIGNIFICANT WINDS. RISK...Limited. AREA...Northeast Oklahoma. ONSET...Late Morning. DISCUSSION... Dangerously hot conditions are again expected this afternoon across eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas. Heat index values of 100 to 110 degrees are forecast, with the higher indices across northeast Oklahoma into the Arkansas River valley of west central Arkansas. Take proper heat precautions while outdoors today. A Heat Advisory is in effect from Noon to 8 PM today for eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas. Also this afternoon, south to southwesterly winds gusting 20 to around 25 mph are expected over the region. These winds should weaken this evening. SPOTTER AND EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT ACTION STATEMENT... Spotter Activation Not Expected. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Monday through Saturday. MONDAY THROUGH SATURDAY...Dangerous Heat Potential. EXTENDED DISCUSSION... A prolonged period of hot, humid, and dry weather is forecast to continue through the week ahead as a dome of high pressure holds over the southern Plains. Afternoon heat index values of 100 to 110 degrees will be common across all eastern Oklahoma and much of northwest Arkansas. The numerous days of hot and humid conditions, along with warm overnight low temperatures, will increase the risk of heat stress across the region.
