AREA AT GREATEST RISK...Northeast OK and west-central AR. DISCUSSION... Dangerous heat will continue for a couple more hours before diminishing near sunset. Current heat indices of 105-110 F are present for most locations. Overnight, low temperatures will fall to the mid 70s to near 80 F. A couple of showers and thunderstorms have developed in the higher terrain of northwest AR. These will continue until sundown and then fall apart with dry conditions overnight. Dangerous heat continues Tuesday areawide. Afternoon heat indices will reach 105-113 F, highest in northeast OK and west-central AR. The heat will continue on Wednesday, but with some mild relief north of I-40 behind a weak cold front. Heat will return in earnest Friday into the weekend. However, a few showers and storms may also return to the area, especially northwest AR, by late in the week.
