Shower and thunderstorm chances develop this afternoon across
eastern Oklahoma and spread into northwest Arkansas this evening.
Overnight tonight showers are expected to become more widespread
over northeast Oklahoma and far northwest Arkansas with additional
chances for thunderstorms. South of Interstate 40, scattered rain
showers are forecast overnight. Elevated instability lifting into
the region will create a limited potential for a couple strong to
marginally severe storms over parts of northeast Oklahoma through
the evening hours. Hail and locally strong winds are the main
threats. Also this evening through tonight, a heavy rain threat
exists for northeast Oklahoma which could lead to localized flood
concerns.

Local Spotter Activation May Be Needed.

    Rain Potential.
SUNDAY...High Wind Potential.

TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY...Very High Fire Weather Potential...High

THURSDAY...No Hazards.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION...
Showers along with chances for thunderstorms are forecast to be
ongoing Saturday morning and are forecast through the day across
eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas as an area of low pressure
moves eastward across Texas. A limited potential for a few strong
to marginally severe storms develops Saturday for mainly
southeast Oklahoma. Severe potentials should weaken late Saturday
evening and overnight once the low pressure system moves east of
the region. Again, hail and strong winds are the primary threats.
A heavy rain threat also continues into Saturday night for much of
eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas where 1 to 2 inches of
rainfall are forecast with locally higher amounts in excess of 3
inches before rains taper off late Saturday night. Localized
flooding may develop primarily in low lying areas, otherwise the
rainfall will be beneficial to the ongoing drought conditions.

Unseasonably warm temperatures quickly return early next week and
fire weather conditions will likely become a concern as several
days of gusty winds are expected.
