For the second Extreme Cold Warning, from 7 PM Wednesday to noon PST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Very cold temperatures can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Hypothermia, cooling of the internal body temperature, occurs quickly and is often unnoticed by the victim until it is too late. Exposed skin can suffer from frostbite very quickly at these temperatures. If you must venture outdoors, make sure to dress properly for extreme cold. Multiple layers of clothing including outdoor jackets and pants are the best way to stay warm during extreme cold, helping to prevent frostbite and/or hypothermia. These items include: hat, gloves, winter jacket, face mask, thicker socks, and cold weather footwear. Hand and foot warmers are also recommended.
