...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THIS
AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Life-threatening rip currents due to breaking waves
  around 6 feet.

* WHERE...Beaches along the northern coastline of Puerto Rico,
  from Aguadilla to Fajardo.

* WHEN...Through 6 PM AST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Rip currents that can sweep even the best swimmers
away from shore into deeper water where it becomes difficult
  to return to safety.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

There is a high risk of rip currents.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as groins, jetties
and piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and
signs.

If you become caught in a rip current, yell for help. Remain
calm, do not exhaust yourself and stay afloat while waiting for
help. If you have to swim out of a rip current, swim parallel to
shore and back toward the beach when possible. Do not attempt to
swim directly against a rip current as you will tire quickly.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Puerto Rico.

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

.Lightning...Isolated to scattered thunderstorms possible, mainly
across central Puerto Rico in the afternoon and eastern Puerto
Rico, Vieques, and Culebra tonight. Plan to stop all outdoor
activity and move to shelters.

.Excessive Rainfall...Flooding of urban areas, roads, small
streams, and washes. Since soils remain saturated, life-
threatening flash flooding and mudslides, possibly entering
structures and cutting off neighborhoods. Some rivers will remain
or may exceed flood stage, affecting nearby roads and structures.

.Excessive Heat...Heat index 102-107 degrees across most coastal
areas, including Vieques and Culebra. Heat exhaustion possible
with prolonged exposure.

.Rip Currents...Life-threatening rip currents are likely in the
surf zone, particularly along beaches between Aguadilla and
Fajardo across northern Puerto Rico.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

Increased shower and thunderstorm activity is likely through
Saturday night, prompting a limited to elevated excessive
rainfall and lightning hazards risk. However, these risks will
likely persist each day, particularly from the typical afternoon
showers and thunderstorm development. With high moisture levels,
heat indices could surpass 102 degrees Fahrenheit each day, with
the potential for 108-110 degrees in localized areas on Saturday
and Sunday. The risk of rip current will shift from low during
the weekend to moderate from Tuesday onward.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotter activation is encouraged. Please relay any information
about flooding, winds, waves, and rip currents to the National
