This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for west central Minnesota and
northeast South Dakota.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

The Fire Danger is expected to be high to very high for today with
mild and dry air moving into the area, along with a front that will
cause a wind shift and result in strong wind gusts late this
afternoon and evening. Winds will top out at 50 to 65 mph. Winds will
stay up most of the night.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday.

A winter storm looks likely for this weekend. Potential exists for 6+
inches of snowfall in some areas. Winds out of the northeast at 30 to
40 mph will cause blowing and drifting issues. More details to come.

...HIGH WIND WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM CDT FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Northwest winds 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 65 mph
  expected.

* WHERE...In Minnesota, Big Stone and Traverse Counties. In South
  Dakota, Clark, Codington, Day, Deuel, Grant, Hamlin, Marshall, and
  Roberts Counties.

* WHEN...Until 7 AM CDT Friday.

* IMPACTS...High winds may move loose debris, damage property and
  cause power outages. Travel could be difficult, especially for
  high profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

People are urged to secure loose objects that could be blown around
or damaged by the wind.

...WINTER STORM WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
SUNDAY EVENING...

* WHAT...Heavy snow and widespread blowing snow possible. Total snow
  accumulations between 6 and 9 inches possible. Winds could gust as
  high as 40 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of north central and northeast South Dakota.

* WHEN...From Saturday afternoon through Sunday evening.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Falling and blowing
  snow, frequently reducing visibility below a half mile, may make
  travel dangerous, especially in open country.
