...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 6 AM CST /5 AM MST/ TO 3
PM CST /2 PM MST/ WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Snow and areas of blowing snow expected. Total snow
  accumulations up to one inch. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

* WHERE...Portions of central and north central South Dakota.

* WHEN...From 6 AM CST /5 AM MST/ to 3 PM CST /2 PM MST/ Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Blowing snow will lead
  to areas of quick and sudden reductions to visibility, making
  travel difficult, especially in rural areas that are prone to
  blowing snow. The hazardous conditions could impact the Wednesday
  morning commute. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road
conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 42 below possible.

* WHERE...Portions of west central Minnesota and central, north
  central, and northeast South Dakota.

* WHEN...From Thursday evening through Friday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero
  could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for west central Minnesota,
central South Dakota, north central South Dakota and northeast
South Dakota.

.DAY ONE...Today and tonight.

Light to moderate snowfall is expected today into tonight across
central and northeast South Dakota and west central Minnesota.
Accumulations will generally remain less than 1 inch. However,
accumulations of around 1 inch will be possible, especially from
north central South Dakota southeastward into parts of central and
northeastern sections of South Dakota.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Wednesday through Monday.

Another bout of light snow will be possible Wednesday. Generally less
than 1 inch of accumulations are expected with the exception of the
Sisseton Hills area where around 1 inch will be possible. Strong
northwest winds leading to blowing snow and reduced visibilities.

An arctic front moves through on Thursday increasing northwest
breezes and the risk for more blowing snow. Very cold temperatures
will settle into the area late this week with dangerous wind chills
of 25 below to 45 below zero Thursday night into Saturday.
