This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of eastern West
Virginia, northern and central Virginia, and central and western
Maryland.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

A Flood Watch is in effect from noon to midnight tonight for most
areas south of the Potomac River. Thunderstorms producing heavy
rainfall could result in isolated to scattered instances of flash
flooding. Significant flash flooding is possible in the Central
Shenandoah Valley.

A few severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind
gusts are possible this afternoon and evening, mainly south of
Interstate 66.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Saturday through Thursday

Isolated to scattered instances of flooding are possible Saturday
afternoon and evening, mainly south of Interstate 66 and Route 48.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...

Spotters should activate this afternoon and evening. Report
instances of flooding and wind damage to the National Weather
Service in Sterling, VA.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT...

* WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
  possible.

* WHERE...Portions of Virginia, including the following areas,
  Albemarle, Augusta, Central Virginia Blue Ridge, Clarke, Eastern
  Highland, Frederick VA, Greene, Madison, Nelson, Northern Virginia
  Blue Ridge, Page, Rappahannock, Rockingham, Shenandoah, Warren and
  Western Highland and eastern West Virginia, including the
  following areas, Eastern Pendleton, Hampshire, Hardy and Western
  Pendleton.

* WHEN...Until midnight EDT tonight.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
  creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
  Low-water crossings may be flooded. Extensive street flooding and
  flooding of creeks and rivers are possible.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Significant flash flooding is possible. Showers and
    thunderstorms will develop and move across the area this
    afternoon to evening. Thunderstorms will be capable of
    producing very heavy rainfall, with amounts of 1 to 2 inches
    in 30 minutes possible. Widespread totals around 1 inch are
    forecast, with up to 2 to 3 inches of rain under the
    strongest storms. Significant flash flooding is possible in
    areas where slow moving storms or multiple rounds of storms
    occur. Worst-case scenario rainfall totals of 4 to 6 inches
    are possible.
