...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT NORTHWESTERN ECTOR...
SOUTHWESTERN ANDREWS AND NORTHEASTERN WINKLER COUNTIES THROUGH 430 PM
CDT...

At 343 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7
miles west of Goldsmith, or 22 miles east of Kermit, moving north at
20 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and nickel size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Goldsmith and Notrees.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM CDT for
western Texas.

...ELEVATED FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE EXPECTED THIS AFTERNOON
AND EARLY EVENING ACROSS SOUTHERN NEW MEXICO...

*Affected Area...Southwest and South-Central New Mexico, including
 the Gila National Forest and Lincoln National Forest. All or
 portions of the following counties: Catron, Dona Ana, Grant,
 Hidalgo, Lincoln, Luna, and Otero.

*Timing...This afternoon through early evening.

*Relative Humidity...6 to 11 percent.

*Wind...West winds 12 to 17 mph with gusts 20 to 25 mph.

These conditions will support the spread of wildfires. Outdoor
burning and activities that involve open sparks or flames are
discouraged.
