Summit, Circle Hot Springs, Livengood, and the Elliott Highway

...BLIZZARD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 6 PM THIS EVENING TO 9 AM
AKST THURSDAY...
* WHAT...Blizzard conditions expected. Total snow accumulations 4 to
8 inches with locally higher amounts. Winds gusting as high as 40
mph. Visibility reduced to as low as one quarter mile at times.
* WHERE...Steese and Elliott Highways, including Eagle Summit; and
higher elevations of the White Mountains near Chena Hot Springs.
* WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 9 AM AKST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Slow down and use
caution while traveling. Resuspended snow from vehicular traffic
could cause significantly reduced visibilities on area roadways.
Additional Details: Snow is expected to develop from west to east by
late Tuesday evening. The heaviest snowfall rates will likely occur
between 6 am and 6 pm Wednesday before slowly tapering off Thursday
morning.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Travel should be restricted to emergencies only. If you must travel,
have a winter survival kit with you. If you get stranded, stay with
your vehicle. The latest road conditions for the state you are
calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

to two inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph.
Visibility may be reduced to as low as one quarter mile.
* WHERE...Eastern Beaufort Sea Coast.
* WHEN...From 6 AM Wednesday to noon AKST Thursday.
* IMPACTS...Plan on difficult travel conditions. Areas of blowing
snow could significantly reduce visibility.
