.Historically high water volumes continue across much of the
Cheboygan River basin. This Flood Warning addresses the high water
levels affecting the Cheboygan River basin UPSTREAM of the Cheboygan
Dam.

...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM EDT WEDNESDAY...

* WHAT...Historic flooding caused by rain and snowmelt continues.

* WHERE...A portion of northern Michigan, including the following
  counties, Cheboygan and Emmet.

* WHEN...Until 800 PM EDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Historic flooding is occurring following recent heavy
  rainfall and snowmelt. Roads and structures near lakes and rivers
  will continue to see high water levels.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 414 AM EDT, flooding continues across the warned area,
    which encompasses a large portion of Emmet and Cheboygan
    counties.
  - A quarter to half inch of new rainfall is expected this
    afternoon, especially for areas south of M-68.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Stay away or be swept away. River banks and culverts can become
unstable and unsafe.

* WHAT...Existing water from heavy rainfall last week is routing
  through the streams, rivers, and lakes. Water is gradually
  receding, but is still flooding low lying areas, creeks, streams,
  and rivers.

* WHERE...A portion of northern Michigan, including the following
  counties, Manistee and Wexford.

* WHEN...Until 545 PM EDT Monday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is occurring. Expect many areas of slow
  moving or standing water.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 411 AM EDT, flooding continues across the warned area.

  Canoe livery along left bank of river just downstream of M-37
  bridge.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 8:30 PM EDT Wednesday the stage was 15.4 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 14.0 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 8:30 PM EDT Wednesday was 15.9 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to gradually lower over the
    next several days, remaining in minor flood stage through
    Monday morning. It will then fall below flood stage early
    Monday afternoon.
  - Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

  forecast. This approaches the flood of record.

* WHERE...Michigamme River near Witch Lake.

* WHEN...Until further notice.

* IMPACTS...At 8.0 feet, Water inundates low lying areas along the
  river in Republic and South Republic...and will impact the yards
  of homes near Bengtson bridge on County Road LI in South Republic
  At 8.5 feet, Water begins to cover County Road LG 2.6 miles
  northwest of M-95
  At 9.0 feet, Water impacts the yards and a few homes near Bengtson
  bridge on County Road LI in South Republic and along Floodwood
  Drive near the Michigamme River east of M-95. Approximately 6
  inches of water is covering portions of County Road LG northwest
  of M-95
  At 11.0 feet, Flood waters cover significant portions of County
  Road LG between M-95 and Michigamme Dam. Houses near Bengtson
  Bridge in South Republic are further impacted by flood waters
  At 13.0 feet, Homes in Republic near Munson Park...South Republic
  near Bengtson Bridge...and Witch Lake are significantly flooded.
  Significant portions of County Roads 601...LG...LE and Newberg
  road are flooded

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 10:10 PM CDT Thursday /11:10 PM EDT Thursday/ the stage
    was 11.0 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 8.5 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 10:10 PM CDT Thursday /11:10 PM EDT Thursday/ was
    11.4 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0
    feet Monday morning.
  - Flood stage is 9.0 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    13.1 feet on 04/20/2002.
