...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 930 PM EDT THIS
EVENING FOR SOUTHEASTERN HORRY COUNTY...

At 712 PM EDT, the public reported thunderstorms producing heavy
rain in North Myrtle Beach. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have
fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in
the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Public reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle Beach Airport, Red
  Hill, Little River, Socastee, Cherry Grove Inlet, Hickory Grove,
  Hand, Nixonville, Hammond, Barefoot Landing Area Of North Myrtle
  Beach, Wampee, Longs, Forestbrook, Horry Georgetown Technical
  College Conway Campus, Coastal Carolina University, Brooksville,
  Cherry Grove Beach and Briarcliffe Acres.

This includes the following streams and drainages...
  Grier Swamp, Camp Swamp, Indigo Branch, Kingston Lake, Simpson
  Creek, Crab Tree Swamp, Steritt Swamp, Bellamy Branch, Cross
  Swamp, Tilly Swamp, Socastee Swamp, Cowpen Swamp, Camp Branch Run,
  Mill Swamp, Waccamaw River, Maple Swamp, Jones Big Swamp, Long Bay
  and Cane Bay.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Dangerous flooding from heavy rainfall can be expected, especially
near poor drainage areas and other flood prone locations. It is
harder to recognize flood dangers at night, as it will be difficult
to determine the depth of the water. Roads may be damaged or washed
away. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. If flooding is observed,
then turn around, don`t drown.
