EVENING...
.Isolated dry thunderstorms are possible over the interior
Tuesday afternoon and into early evening. Threats include erratic
gusty winds and lightning. Lightning on dry fuels may lead to new
fire starts. In addition, gusty winds combined with hot
temperatures and low relative humidity will also produce near
critical fire weather conditions. Existing fires and any new
fires will have the potential to spread rapidly.

* THUNDERSTORMS...Isolated dry storms over high terrain in the
afternoon and early evening hours.
* OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty and erratic outflow winds over 40 mph
possible.
* IMPACTS...Any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
* Additional Impacts...Hot, dry weather and breezy winds will
increase the fire danger even in areas away from
thunderstorms.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

The National Weather Service in Medford has issued a Red Flag
Warning, which is in effect from 1 PM to 9 PM PDT Tuesday. The
Fire Weather Watch has been upgraded.
* AFFECTED AREA...In California, Fire weather zones 280, 281,
284 and 285. In Oregon, Fire weather zones 617, 621, 623, 624
and 625.
* THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered thunderstorms with abundant
lightning possible. Storms may produce little or no rain, and
lightning strikes outside of precipitation cores are
possible, and may cause many new fire starts.
* OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusts of 35 to 50 mph could travel outward up
to 25 miles from thunderstorm cores.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...IN addition to thunderstorm potential,
conditions on Tuesday will be hot, dry, breezy, and unstable,
adding to the heightened fire weather concerns for the day.

EASTERN PARTS OF LASSEN COUNTRY AND PARTS OF NORTH WASHOE COUNTY
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Red Flag
Warning for thunderstorms and strong outflow winds, which is in
effect from 1 PM to 11 PM PDT Tuesday.
* Affected Area...Fire Weather Zone 270 Surprise Valley
California, Fire Weather Zone 278 Eastern Lassen County, Fire
Weather Zone 458 Northern Washoe County.
* Thunderstorms...Thunderstorms developing in the afternoon and
continuing into the evening. Some uncertainty with coverage,
but storms will be fast moving and becoming more isolated
further north, with potential to produce dry lightning.
* Outflow Winds...Gusty and erratic outflow winds from showers and
storms, even well away from rain cores. Gusts to around 45 mph
possible.
* Impacts...Lightning can create new fire starts and may combine
with strong outflow winds to cause a fire to rapidly grow in
size and intensity before first responders can contain them.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Avoid outdoor activities that can cause a spark near dry
vegetation, such as yard work, target shooting, or campfires.
