Isolated instances of flash flooding are possible through early

thunderstorm or two capable of producing damaging wind gusts is
possible during this time.

A Flood Watch is in effect for northern Virginia, the Virginia
Piedmont, northern and central Maryland, and the eastern
Panhandle of West Virginia Thursday afternoon and evening. There
is the potential for multiple instances of significant flash
flooding from very heavy rainfall associated with thunderstorms.
Please have a plan in place to seek higher ground immediately if

Hot and humid conditions will lead to afternoon heat indices up to
105 degrees for parts of Eastern North Carolina through Friday.

Scattered to numerous showers and thunderstorms may bring periods of
heavy rain Thursday and Friday, which could lead to localized minor
flooding.
