...INCREASED FIRE DANGER TODAY ACROSS ALL OF EASTERN NORTH
CAROLINA...

Abnormally dry fuel conditions further exacerbated by high
temperatures reaching well into the 90s inland, low relative
humidity (lowest away from the immediate coast), and strengthening
southwest winds gusting to 15-20mph in the afternoon will lead to
increased fire danger.

Fire fuels could easily ignite and spread rapidly in these
conditions. Residents and visitors to the area are urged to
properly dispose of cigarette butts, matches, and any other
flammable items in appropriate containers. Exercise caution if
operating any equipment that could create sparks, and keep
vehicles off dry leaves and grass.

Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities on whether
you can burn. If you do, you are advised to use extreme caution.

...INCREASED FIRE DANGER THROUGH 8 PM TODAY ACROSS PORTIONS OF
EASTERN NORTH CAROLINA...

The combination of low relative humidity, breezy winds up to 10
to 15 mph, and extremely dry fuels will lead to an increased fire
danger today for portions of eastern North Carolina.

Dry grasses, dead leaves, and other tree litter could easily
ignite and spread fire quickly. People in this area are urged to
properly dispose of cigarette butts, matches, and any other
flammable items in appropriate containers. Exercise caution if
operating any equipment that could create sparks, and keep
vehicles off of dry leaves and grass.

...INCREASED FIRE DANGER TODAY ACROSS NORTHEAST NORTH CAROLINA...

Dry, hot, and breezy conditions are expected today. The ongoing
drought has led to abnormally dry dead surface fuels across the
region. Min RH values of 25 to 35%, wind gusts to around 20 mph,
and afternoon high temperatures in the low to mid 90s ahead of a
cold front will lead to increased fire danger from mid morning
through early evening today.

Residents are urged to exercise caution handling any potential
ignition source...including machinery... cigarettes...and matches.
Be sure to properly discard all smoking materials. Any dry grasses
and tree litter that ignite will have the potential to spread
quickly.
