...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Cortez, Colorado, in western Montezuma County.

* WHEN...Until 700 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Ponding of water in downtown Cortez is occurring or is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 504 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream
    flooding.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Mud Creek, Mc Elmo Creek and Hartman Draw.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Cortez.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 645 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...Dawson Draw to Disappointment Creek in southwest Colorado,
  including the following counties, Dolores and San Miguel.

* WHEN...Until 645 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 446 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream
    flooding. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of rain has fallen.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Cottonwood Draw, White Sands Draw, Dawson Draw and possibly
    Disappointment Creek over Disappointment Valley Road in San
    Miguel and Dolores counties.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Low water crossings in mountainous terrain can become dangerous in
heavy rain. Do not attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate
route.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.

...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 630 PM MDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive
  rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southeast Utah in San Juan County.

* WHEN...Until 630 PM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas.
  Rises in small streams and normally dry arroyos. Some low-water
  crossings may become impassable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 327 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. This will cause arroyo and small stream
    flooding. Between 0.8 and 1.3 inches of rain have fallen.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.3 to 0.6 inches are expected
    over the area. This additional rain may result in minor
    flooding and flash flooding through steep canyons.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    mainly rural areas of East Central San Juan County, draining
    into Montezuma Creek.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain.
Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a
matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
