* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southwest Colorado, including the following
  county, Montezuma.

* WHEN...Until 700 AM MDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams
  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 656 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to
    thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin
    shortly in the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Mancos.

duration for the following rivers in Colorado...

  San Juan River at Pagosa Springs affecting Archuleta County.

For the San Juan River...including Pagosa Springs...Moderate
flooding is forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL LATE THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Major flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is
  forecast.

* WHERE...San Juan River at Pagosa Springs.

* WHEN...Until late this evening.

* IMPACTS...At 11.0 feet, water will approach the area around the
  River Center shopping complex in Pagosa Springs. Inundation of
  sections of Hermosa Street and low land areas adjacent to the
  river can be expected. At 12.4 feet, portions of the San Juan
  River Campground east of Pagosa Springs are beginning to flood.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 4:00 AM MDT Tuesday the stage was 12.6 feet.
  - Bankfull stage is 8.5 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours
    ending at 4:00 AM MDT Tuesday was 12.6 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    early this afternoon.
  - Flood stage is 10.5 feet.
  - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of
    13.5 feet on 06/29/1927.

* IMPACTS...Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from
  earlier rainfall.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 408 AM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain of due to
    thunderstorms. 1 to 1.5 inches of rain has fallen. Flooding
    is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Leche Creek, Little Navajo River, Cutthroat Creek, East Fork
    Navajo River, Augustora Creek, Big Branch, Spring Creek,
    Stove Creek, Navajo River and Peterson Creek.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Areas along the Navajo and Little Navajo Rivers

NIGHT...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.

* WHERE...A portion of southwest Colorado, including the following
  counties, Archuleta, Hinsdale, La Plata and San Juan. North of
  Vallecito Reservoir.

* WHEN...Until midnight MDT Tuesday Night.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1259 PM MDT, Emergency management reported flooding north
    of Vallecito Reservoir. River gauges above the reservoir are
    beginning to respond upward with the recent rainfall and they
    should peak during the late evening to early morning hours.
  - Additional rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2.5 inches are possible
    in the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Vallecito.

.Another round of heavy rainfall on top of already saturated
conditions will allow the tributaries of the Piedra River to quickly
rise and runoff into the main stem of the river over the next 24
hours. The main stem of the Piedra is expected to rise to bankfull
or higher in many low lying areas with a crest arriving to near
Navajo Reservoir by Tuesday afternoon.

RIVER DRAINAGE BASIN AND ADJACENT TRIBUTARIES...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.

* WHERE...A portion of southwest Colorado, including the following
  counties, Archuleta and Hinsdale.

* WHEN...Until 300 PM MDT Wednesday.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Streams
  continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Mud
  and debris flow along Highway 151 is also possible due to moderate
  to heavy rainfall rates.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 1219 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges
    indicated heavy rain. Flooding is ongoing or expected to
    begin shortly in the warned area. Between 0.5 and 1 inch of
    rain has fallen and another 1 to 2 inches is possible across
    the Piedra Basin through early Tuesday.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    Ignacio Creek, Piedra River, Middle Fork Piedra River, Indian
    Creek, Davis Creek, Weminuche Creek, Sand Creek, Devil Creek,
    Stollsteimer Creek, Williams Creek and First Fork Piedra
    River.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    Areas along the main stem of the Piedra River from far
    southern Hinsdale county through Western Archuleta County to
    the confluence with Navajo Reservoir.

* WHAT...Small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is
  expected.

* WHERE...A portion of south central Colorado, including the
  following counties, Mineral and Rio Grande.

* WHEN...Until 1130 AM MDT.

* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying
  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Low-water
  crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 532 AM MDT, local law enforcement reported heavy rain in
    the warned area with debris and debris jams causing water to
    flow over bridges and into portions of highway 160. Flooding
    is already occurring. Up to 1 inch of rain has fallen.
  - This includes the following streams and drainages...
    South Fork Rio Grande and its tributaries.
    Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in
    the warned area.
  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...
    South Fork and Forest Service roads with access off highway
    160 upstream of South Fork.
  - The bridge over Park Creek Road is flooded and high water is
    encroaching into highway 160.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Life-threatening flooding of creeks, roads and streams are likely.
The heavy rains may trigger rockslides, mudslides and debris flows
in steep terrain, especially in and around these areas.

Flooding is occurring or is imminent. It is important to know where
you are relative to streams, rivers, or creeks which can become
killers in heavy rains. Campers and hikers should avoid streams or
creeks.
