...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT NOW IN EFFECT FROM 7 AM CDT THIS
MORNING THROUGH MONDAY AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...High waves and dangerous currents expected.

* WHERE...Beaches along Lake Michigan in Kewaunee and Manitowoc
  Counties.

* WHEN...From 7 AM this morning through 4 PM Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming conditions are expected. Strong
  currents can pull swimmers into deeper water and high waves
  can sweep people off piers.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Several beaches that will be most
  susceptible to the dangerous swimming conditions include...
  Cresent Beach and City of Kewaunee Beach in Kewaunee County.
  Point Beach, Neshotah Beach and Red Arrow Beach in Manitowoc
  County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.

  susceptible to the dangerous swimming conditions include...
  Rock Island State Beach, Baileys Harbor beaches and Whitefish
  Dunes Beach in Door County.

...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON
THROUGH THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...High wave action, strong currents, and dangerous swimming
  conditions expected.

* WHERE...Mason county.

* WHEN...From 2 PM EDT this afternoon through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Strong currents can pull swimmers into deeper water
  and high waves can sweep people off piers.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A period of higher winds and waves will
  occur this afternoon and evening near Big Sable Point. Winds
  will be from the north and northeast so areas north of the point
  will see the highest waves and strongest currents. Ludington
  State Park, the Nordhouse Dunes Recreation Area and the Lake
  Michigan Recreation Area will see waves of 3 to 5 feet and
  strong currents.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions
and do not venture out on piers. Please check with your local
authorities on potential beach closures.

* WHAT...Dangerous swimming conditions are due to high wave
  action and strong rip currents.

* WHERE...Marquette and Alger Counties.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...High wave action and dangerous currents will lead to
  life threatening swimming conditions. Waves in rapid
  succession can tire swimmers quickly.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Current related fatalities and rescues in
  the past have occurred due to similar wave conditions at
  locations listed below:

For Marquette County: Middle Bay north of Presque Isle and at
Little Presque Isle.

For Alger County: The Au Train River mouth at Au Train, the
exposed regions of Grand Marais Harbor, and Pictured Rocks
National Lakeshore.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Remain out of the water to avoid hazardous swimming conditions.

* WHAT...Life threatening waves of 3 to 6 feet and dangerous
  currents are expected.

* WHERE...Sheboygan, Ozaukee, Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha
  Counties.

* WHEN...From 8 AM CDT this morning through Monday afternoon.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming conditions are expected due to
  high waves and onshore winds.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...From this morning through this evening,
  northerly exposed beaches, piers, and/or breakwalls will be most
  vulnerable to these dangerous currents. By late Monday morning,
  southerly exposed areas will be at greater risk as wind and
  wave directions veer southeasterly.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay out of the water and away from dangerous areas like piers
and breakwalls.  Strong structural and longshore currents are
expected.  Rip currents are possible.
