...HIGH SURF ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CHST MONDAY...
...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY
AFTERNOON...
* WHAT...Large breaking waves between 9 to 11 feet and dangerous
rip currents.
* WHERE...For the High Surf Advisory. north facing reefs of the
Marianas. For the High Risk of Rip Currents, north and east
facing reefs of the Marianas.
* WHEN...Until 4 PM ChST Monday.
* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best
swimmers away from shore into deeper water.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The swell has gradually became more north
than yesterday. This has allowed the surf and risk of rip
currents along south facing reefs to fall below 9 feet and into
medium for rip current risk. The high surf advisory for east
facing reefs has fallen below the 12 foot threshold also.
However, remains above the high risk of rip currents threshold
of 9 feet. The northeast swell is gradually falling and should
fall below 9 feet as early as Monday afternoon.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Rip currents will be life threatening. Inexperienced swimmers
should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Don`t swim against
the current. If able, swim in a direction following the shoreline.
If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
