A north-northeast (020 to 030 degrees) swell of 8 to 9 feet at 13
seconds will generate surges in north facing harbors today, mainly
at Hilo and Kahului, as well as breaking waves near the harbor
entrances. Mariners using these harbors should exercise caution
when entering or leaving port and when mooring or launching
vessels. The swell will remain elevated Wednesday and Thursday,
but the swell direction will shift out of the northeast, which
will reduce the threat of surges.
