...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in
Illinois...Indiana...

  Wabash River at Mount Carmel

  Wabash River at Riverton

...The Flood Warning is extended for the following rivers in
Illinois...Indiana...

  Wabash River at Vincennes

  Wabash River at Hutsonville Legacy Power Plant Site

.Minor flooding also continues on the Wabash River from Hutsonville
down to Mount Carmel with the crest approaching Mount Carmel.
Flooding should come to an end on the Wabash during the weekend.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Motorists should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars
through flooded areas.

Flooding is occurring. Most flood related deaths occur in
automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or
low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, even a
small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route over
higher ground.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Wabash River at Hutsonville Legacy Power Plant Site.

* WHEN...Until Sunday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Leaverton Park in Palestine and park in
  Hutsonville begin to flood.  Agricultural flooding spreads to
  higher land.  Seep water is noticeable behind levees.  Some
  elevated river cottages are surrounded by water.  Several county or
  township roads east of Lincoln Heritage Trail between Palestine and
  Hutsonville in Crawford County Illinois are impassable.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - There is no current observed data.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    Saturday evening and continue falling to 6.7 feet Sunday,
    September 06.
  - Flood stage is 16.0 feet.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, Extensive flooding is in progress.  Higher
  rural roads begin to flood.  High water isolates many river cabins.
  Seep water becomes a problem.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 8:00 PM CDT /9:00 PM EDT/ Thursday the stage was 19.9 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
    at 8:00 PM CDT /9:00 PM EDT/ Thursday was 20.7 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    Saturday afternoon and continue falling to 5.2 feet Sunday,
    September 06.
  - Flood stage is 15.0 feet.

* WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.

* WHERE...Wabash River at Mount Carmel.

* WHEN...Until Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, River is bankfull in all locations.  All
  oil field production ceases with the exception of pumping units on
  substructures.  Access to these are by boat only.  Agricultural
  losses increase dramatically.  Farmers move livestock to higher
  ground.  City of Mount Carmel leaves flood gates B and C in year
  round.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 7:45 PM CDT /8:45 PM EDT/ Thursday the stage was 19.6 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
    at 7:45 PM CDT /8:45 PM EDT/ Thursday was 20.1 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    tomorrow evening and continue falling to 5.6 feet Sunday,
    September 06.
  - Flood stage is 19.0 feet.

  flood.  Several township roads about 1.25 miles south of St.
  Francesville and River Road between Billett Road and Lincoln
  Memorial Bridge in Lawrence County are flooded.  Extensive flooding
  of Kimmell Park at Vincennes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - At 7:45 PM CDT /8:45 PM EDT/ Thursday the stage was 18.4 feet.
  - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending
    at 7:45 PM CDT /8:45 PM EDT/ Thursday was 18.7 feet.
  - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage
    Saturday morning and continue falling to 5.0 feet Sunday,
    September 06.
  - Flood stage is 16.0 feet.

  Wabash River at New Harmony.

.The river at New Harmony is cresting about a half foot above flood
stage. It will remain there tonight, then fall slowly until it goes
below flood stage Saturday evening.

For the Wabash River...including New Harmony...Minor flooding is
forecast.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.

  - Forecast...The river is expected to remain nearly steady at its
    crest of 15.5 feet thru tonight, then will begin to fall below
    flood stage Saturday evening.
  - Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
