...FLOOD WATCH IN EFFECT UNTIL 8 PM CDT THIS EVENING...

* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central, north central, and northeast
  Illinois, including the following areas, in central Illinois,
  Livingston. In north central Illinois, La Salle. In northeast
  Illinois, Central Cook, DuPage, Eastern Will, Grundy, Kankakee,
  Kendall, Northern Cook, Northern Will, Southern Cook and Southern
  Will.

* WHEN...Until 8 PM CDT this evening.

* IMPACTS...Creeks and streams may rise out of their banks. Flooding
  may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Underpasses may be
  flooded. Roads and streets may be flooded.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
  - Slow moving thunderstorms capable of producing very heavy
    rainfall are expected to develop this afternoon and may
    linger into the early evening. Given the very moist air mass
    in place, the most intense thunderstorms will be capable of
    producing up to 2 inches of rain in an hour or less. Some
    portions of the watch area received very heavy rainfall over
    the past 24 hours, which will increase the threat of flash
    flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means flooding is possible, but not yet certain, based
upon the latest forecasts. Persons with interests along area rivers,
creeks, and other waterways should monitor the latest forecasts and
be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
