* WHAT...For the Wind Advisory, southwest winds 10 to 20 mph with
gusts up to 40 to 50 mph expected. For the Extreme Cold Warning,
dangerously cold wind chills as low as 10 above expected. For the
Extreme Cold Watch, dangerously cold wind chills as low as 10
above possible.
* WHERE...Portions of south central and southwest Alabama, northwest
Florida, and southeast Mississippi.
* WHEN...For the Wind Advisory, until 3 PM CST this afternoon. For
the Extreme Cold Warning, from midnight tonight to noon CST
Monday. For the Extreme Cold Watch, from late Monday night through
Tuesday morning.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

gusts up to 40 mph. For the Cold Weather Advisory, very cold wind
chills as low as 14 expected. For the Extreme Cold Watch,
dangerously cold wind chills as low as 10 above possible. For the
Freeze Watch, sub-freezing temperatures as low as 10 above
possible.
* WHERE...Portions of southeast Alabama, Big Bend and Panhandle
Florida, and southwest Georgia.
* WHEN...For the Wind Advisory, until 6 PM EST /5 PM CST/ this
evening. For the Cold Weather Advisory, from 4 AM EST /3 AM CST/
to 10 AM EST /9 AM CST/ Monday. For the Extreme Cold Watch and
Freeze Watch, from Monday evening through Tuesday morning.
* IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree
limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.
Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is
exposed to these temperatures. Wind chill values can lead to
hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Frost and freeze conditions
could kill crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage
unprotected outdoor plumbing.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
Secure outdoor objects.
Wear protective clothing such as a hat, facemask and heavy gloves or
mittens if you have plans to be outdoors.
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
If you do not have heat in your home or lack shelter, you can call
211 for assistance locating appropriate shelter from the cold.
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
To prevent freezing and possible bursting of outdoor water pipes
they should be wrapped, drained, or allowed to drip slowly. Those
that have in-ground sprinkler systems should drain them and cover
above-ground pipes to protect them from freezing.
