MST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Strong winds and heavy snow expected. There is a likelihood
  of major winter weather impacts. Total snow accumulations between
  1 to 4 inches in the valleys and 4 and 11 inches in the higher
  terrain including Highway 2 from Essex to Marias Pass. Wind gusts
  as high as 40 mph. Rapid drop in temperatures creating freeze-up
  on road surfaces.

* WHERE...Marias Pass, Polebridge, Bad Rock Canyon, Glacier National
  Park, Highway 83 Bigfork to Swan Lake, and Essex.

* WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 2 PM MST Friday.

* IMPACTS...For MAJOR winter weather impacts, expect considerable
  disruptions to normal activities. Dangerous or impossible
  traveling conditions. Avoid travel in the impacted areas if
  possible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Thursday
  evening and Friday morning commutes, especially over higher passes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

  and 6 inches. Wind gusts as high as 40 mph. Rapid drop in
  temperatures creating freeze-up on road surfaces.

* WHERE...Georgetown Lake, Highway 200 Bonner to Greenough, Highway
  83 Seeley Lake to Condon, MacDonald Pass, Homestake Pass, Butte,
  I-90 East Missoula to Bearmouth, and Highway 12 Garrison to
  Elliston.

* WHEN...From 2 AM to 6 PM MST Friday.

* IMPACTS...For MAJOR winter weather impacts, expect considerable

  impact the Friday morning commute.

  gusty north winds developing Friday. Total snow accumulations
  between 5 and 9 inches possible.

* WHERE...A portion of north central Montana.

* WHEN...From 5 PM this afternoon to 11 PM MST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Tire chains may be required for some vehicles if
  traveling through mountain passes. Blowing snow will significantly
  reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the
  Friday morning and evening commutes.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Light snow is expected to develop this
  afternoon and intensify overnight before tapering off Friday
  evening. Gusty north winds developing on Friday could create areas
  of blowing and drifting snow.
