...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 4 PM
EST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Heavy wet snow. Total snow accumulations 4 to 8 inches with
  winds gusting up to 35 mph, with the highest accumulations and
  strongest winds at and above 1500 feet in northern Carbon and
  northwestern Monroe counties. Lower elevations will receive
  significantly less snow and wind.

* WHERE...Carbon and Monroe Counties.

* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 4 PM EST Friday.

* IMPACTS...The strong winds and weight of snow on tree limbs may
  down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel
  could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact this
  evening`s and Friday morning`s commutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for
the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

Do not touch downed lines and report any power outages to your
electric company. Travel is highly discouraged due to slick roadways
and the possibility of downed trees and power lines.

* WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total accumulations between 5 and 12
  inches, with the highest amounts on the ridgetops.

* WHERE...Sullivan County.

* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 4 PM EST Friday. The heaviest
  snow will fall tonight, then diminish during Friday.

* IMPACTS...The weight of snow on tree limbs may down power lines
  and could cause sporadic power outages. Travel could be very
  difficult. The hazardous conditions will likely impact the Friday
  morning commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Persons should consider delaying all travel. If travel is absolutely
necessary, drive with extreme caution. Consider taking a winter
storm kit along with you, including such items as tire chains,
booster cables, flashlight, shovel, blankets and extra clothing.
Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help
you survive in case you become stranded.

EST FRIDAY...

* WHAT...Snow, heavy at times under localized bands. Totals will be
  highly elevation dependent as well. A few inches or in valley
  locations with amounts of 5-12 inches above 1,500 feet. Totals of
  12-18 inches possible in the highest elevations in western Wayne,
  eastern Lackawanna, Delaware and eastern Susquehanna counties.

* WHERE...Portions of central New York and northeast Pennsylvania.

* WHEN...From 4 PM this afternoon to 4 PM EST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult, especially with snowfall
  rates of 1-3 inches per hour in spots overnight. The hazardous
  conditions could impact the Friday morning commute. Heavy snowfall
  could bring down trees and wires due to the weight of the snow.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency.
