...BEACH HAZARDS STATEMENT REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY
EVENING...
* WHAT...Elevated surf of 3-5 feet with sets to 7 feet expected
along with dangerous rip currents and minor coastal flooding.
* WHERE...San Diego County coastal areas and Orange County
coastal areas, particularly along south and southwest-facing
beaches.
* WHEN...From early Wednesday morning through Thursday evening.
* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
localized beach erosion. Flooding of low lying beach parking
lots, boardwalks, and roads.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...High tides peak around 6.2 to 6.5 feet from
8-10 PM PDT this evening and Thursday evening.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A beach hazards statement is issued when threats such as strong
rip currents...elevated surf heights...minor tidal overflow...or
lightning are possible at local beaches. Obey posted warning
signs and flags and talk to a lifeguard before swimming. Use
caution when in or near the water and always swim near a
lifeguard.
